Tirich Mir is the highest mountain in the Hindu Kush range and the highest mountain in Afghanistan. It stands at an elevation of 7,708 meters (25,289 feet) above sea level. The mountain is located in the Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, near the Afghanistan–Pakistan border.
Tirich Mir has three main summits: the highest is the main summit (7,708m), the northwest summit (7,388m), and the south summit (7,492m). The first recorded ascent of Tirich Mir was in 1950 by a Norwegian expedition led by Ardito Desio.
The mountain is part of the larger Hindu Kush range, which stretches across Afghanistan and into northern Pakistan. The region is known for its rugged and remote terrain, with numerous high peaks and deep valleys. Tirich Mir is a challenging climb due to its high elevation, severe weather conditions, and technical difficulties, making it an attractive destination for experienced mountaineers.
